Occupy Wall Street is an ongoing demonstration around USA and the world. It started in New York City based in Liberty Square. It was inspired by the Arab Spring movement (particularly the Tahrir Square protests in Cairo, which initiated the 2011 Egyptian revolution).
OWS is protesting against social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the influence of corporate money on government.
On September 17, 2011 some 5,000 demonstrators swarmed into New York’s financial district to both symbolically and literally occupy Wall Street, the epicenter of America’s financial empire. The protests has spread coast to coast and spilled into other countries.
